1.   How do the boys arrive on this deserted island? 


2.   1) What do Ralph and Piggy discover? They decide to use this to call others and to have a meeting. 2) How do they decide who’s going to be their leader? (0.5 for each)

3.   How does the identity of the boys that Jack leads change? 

4.   Why does Jack fail to kill the pig even though he is hungry? (Later, he succeeds in and enjoys killing it) 

5.   Foreshadowing: “This is our island. It’s a good island. Until the grownups come to fetch us we’ll have ___________.”

6.   A small boy, shy and scared, says there’s something here. Ralph doesn’t believe it. What is this? 

7.   1) What do they make to send a signal to ships coming near where they are? 2) A ship passes by without noticing them. Why? 

8.   Whose voice do they keep shutting up? Who has possibly died since their arrival? (0.5 for each) 

9.   What does Jack do for hunting? (This liberates him from shame and self-consciousness.) 

10. How does one side of Piggy’s glasses get broken?
